Overview of the High Commission
The High Commission for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, established on August 31, 1962, is one of the first overseas missions established by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. The Mission is significant in that it is strategically placed in one of the most important political and economic capitals of the world, and represents a major transit hub for most European, Middle Eastern, Far East and African destinations.
The mandate of the High Commission is spread across crosscutting areas, namely bilateral and multilateral relations; trade, investment and business facilitation; public affairs, cultural promotion and diaspora engagement, and the provision of consular and immigration services.
Bilateral relations
The High Commission is accredited to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which includes England, Scotland, Wales, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Republic of Finland, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Kingdom of Norway and Ireland.
Multilateral relations
The Mission also represents to foreign interests and governments the views and opinions of the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago in the international organisations based in London. The High Commission acts as liaison between the secretariats of the multilateral organisations and the relevant Ministries in Trinidad and Tobago, articulating the interests of Trinidad and Tobago within multilateral organisations and commodity agreements in the United Kingdom, through active participation in the work of the following organisations:
• The Commonwealth;
• International Maritime Organization (IMO);
• International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC);
• CAB International (CABI); and
• International Cocoa Organization (ICCO).
Consular and Student Services Unit
Consular Services
The High Commission provides consular services to nationals and non-nationals alike, who seek assistance for legalized documents, notary services, and/or other areas of general assistance.
The following is a list of services provided:
1. Obtaining a birth certificate
2. Obtaining a marriage certificate
3. Obtaining a death certificate
4. Obtaining a Certificate of Non-Impediment
5. Obtaining a Certificate of Character
6. Notary, certification and authentication of documents
7. Endorsement of Life Certificate Forms for Pensioners and NIB Recipients
8. Repatriation of human remains (deceased body) to Trinidad and Tobago
9. Repatriation of cremated remains (ashes) to Trinidad and Tobago
REGISTRATION SYSTEM FOR NATIONALS ABROAD (RSNA)
The Registration System for Nationals Abroad (RSNA) is a free service provided by the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs for Trinidad and Tobago nationals travelling overseas or living outside of Trinidad and Tobago. The details you provide when you register will help our diplomatic missions to contact you and provide better assistance in an emergency such as a natural or man-made disaster or civil disturbance.

Students Services
The High Commission administers tuition payments and personal allowances on behalf of Trinidad and Tobago nationals on government-funded scholarships in the United Kingdom. The High Commission is the first point of contact and remains the channel of support to students at British Universities and acts as a liaison between the Scholarships and Advanced Training Division (SATD) of the Ministry of Education and overseas universities.

Passports and Immigration Unit
The High Commission provides travel documents to Trinidad and Tobago citizens in the form of a Machine Readable Passport, Emergency Passport or Emergency Certificate and assists with Trinidad and Tobago citizenship issues such as renunciation and restoration of Trinidad and Tobago citizenship.
Passport Application Guidelines
1. The current format of passport is the Machine Readable Passports (MRP) where the bio-data page (page with photo) is computer generated and has a bar code across the bottom of the page. Click here for MRP sample.
2. Persons eligible for a Trinidad and Tobago passport include:
a. persons born in Trinidad and Tobago
b. persons who have at least one parent who was born in Trinidad and Tobago
c. persons who became Trinidad and Tobago citizens by Registration
3. Fee structure for Passport and Immigration Services.
Methods of payment accepted are cash (please bring exact change) or UK Postal Order.
4. The passport is produced in Trinidad and Tobago. After submission of a passport application it takes approximately 6 to 8 weeks to receive the passport from Trinidad and Tobago.
5. Passports are mailed to the applicants when received. If the applicant notices any errors in the passport he/she should call (+44 (0)20 7245 9351, Option 2) or e-mail the High Commission (hclongonimmigration@foreign.gov.tt) immediately.
To apply for your passport
1. If applying for a MRP passport for the first time
a. Send an email to hclondonimmigration@foreign.gov.tt seeking an appointment to submit an MRP application.
b. The applicant will then receive instructions by email a list of relevant documents for review.
c. An appointment date will be granted only when the documents the applicant e-mailed is deemed sufficient.
d. The applicant will be sent the relevant application form by e-mail once the appointment date is confirmed.
e. On the day of the appointment, the applicant will submit the original application form and original documents provided by e-mail. Their photo and signature will be captured for the passport.
2. If renewing a MRP for a person 16 years and older click here for instructions and here for form. Click here to see example of a completed application form. These applications are processed by mail only.
3. If renewing a MRP for a person under 16 years of age
a. Send an email to hclondonimmigration@foreign.gov.tt seeking an appointment to submit an MRP application.
b. The applicant will then receive instructions and forms by e-mail.

Trade and Business Facilitation
The Trade and Business Facilitation Unit lends support to the Ministry of Trade and Industry in the furtherance of the objectives outlined in the official policy framework of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago as they pertain to trade, industry and investment.
In that regard, the Unit is responsible for, inter alia, collating market information and analysis; encouraging and facilitating linkages between local manufacturers and exporters with the diaspora; and promoting Trinidad and Tobago as a place for investment and leading country within the Latin American and Caribbean region.
The Unit’s activities are broad in scope as they seek to promote all aspects of business in Trinidad and Tobago, and network with other non-energy development agencies to promote investment opportunities in the non-energy and downstream energy sectors.

Public Affairs, Culture and Tourism
The PACT Unit is tasked with initiating and sustaining an outreach programmes that positively projects and promotes Trinidad and Tobago as the ideal country to visit and live. To that end, the Unit disseminates information to its stakeholders on Trinidad and Tobago, and seeks to embrace, inform and include the diaspora in the United Kingdom as well as the countries to which the Mission is accredited.
